Love the Person God Created in You

Discover how God’s mercy transformed my life—from relying on mood-altering distractions to embracing my true identity in Christ. A testimony of hope, healing, and knowing that God doesn’t make mistakes.

When I Didn’t Want to Be Myself

There was a point in my life when I simply wasn’t happy being me. I struggled with internal dissatisfaction and tried to cope by turning to mood-altering substances. At the time, it felt easier to escape into a “different version” of myself than to face who I truly was. I liked being high more than I liked being sober because I didn’t yet understand my worth, purpose, or identity.

Looking back now, I am deeply thankful that the Lord is merciful. Even in my confusion, brokenness, and attempts to self-medicate my unhappiness, God’s grace was a present—waiting for me to turn toward Him.

Discovering God’s Mercy and My Identity in Christ

It was during that dark season that something life-changing happened: I encountered the mercy and love of God.

One truth began to cut through my confusion:

God doesn’t make mistakes. Therefore, I couldn’t be a mistake.

That realization shook me to the core. I finally understood that I was created on purpose, in the image of God Himself (Genesis 1:27). My sense of humor, creativity, and unique way of thinking weren’t flaws—they were fingerprints of my Creator.

I was different from other people, yes—but not in a broken way. In a designed to be that way.

I Mattered to the Creator—And That Changed Everything

The moment I grasped that the Creator of the universe cared enough to save me and set me free, everything shifted. I wasn’t an accident trying to fix myself. I was a son of God learning to embrace who He had created me to be.

Because of His mercy:

  • I learned how to love myself.
  • I learned how to love and forgive other people with genuine compassion and empathy.
  • I learned how to trust God’s design—not only for the world, but for my own life.
  • Because “In the beginning God created ” starts the Bible, we can understand about the Designer and our place within the design.

This wasn’t just emotional healing. It was spiritual rebirth.

Loving God by Loving Who He Created Me to Be

The love of God didn’t just pull me out of addiction and self-disgust; it gave me the courage to trust His design. I began to see that the way He made me—my personality, my creativity, my perspective—served a purpose.

It was at that point that my relationship with God deepened. I could finally love Him fully because I finally loved the life He gave me. And I could trust His design because I learned to trust how I was designed.

If You Feel Broken, Remember This Truth

If you’re reading this and you’ve ever felt like you weren’t enough—or maybe even that you were a mistake—let my testimony remind you:

God does not make mistakes.

You are intentionally designed.

You are deeply loved.

And you matter more than you realize.

Within understanding, there is freedom, peace, and joy in discovering who you are through the One who created you.
