Born of the Spirit: Experiencing the Fullness of God Through Jesus Christ

Being born of the Spirit—or filled with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ—is far more than a theological concept. As Jesus Christ explains in John 3, being born again is a supernatural experience that goes beyond intellectual understanding. You cannot simply study it; you must humble yourself and submit to it personally through meeting for yourself the power and love of God.

God’s Original Design for Humanity

From the beginning of creation, God designed humanity to live in fellowship with Him, fully connected and filled with His Spirit. He breathed life into Adam and made us in His image. But when sin entered the world in the Garden of Eden, humanity lost that spiritual connection and closeness.

Yet God, in His love, made a way for restoration. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, He reopened the path for us to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and return to the relationship we were created to enjoy.

The Fullness of God Revealed in Jesus the Messiah

In Colossians 2, the apostle Paul declares that the fullness of God dwells in Jesus Christ. When the Holy Spirit—the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead—fills a believer, God performs a miracle within the human spirit. He doesn’t merely adopt us; He recreates us through a spiritual rebirth.

Paul describes this spiritual transformation as a “circumcision without hands,” a supernatural cutting away of the old sinful nature. This spiritual circumcision aligns us with God’s eternal plan of salvation and reveals what it truly means to be born again of the Spirit.

Receiving the Holy Spirit Begins With Desire

Receiving the Holy Spirit begins with a sincere desire for God. We must repent, surrender our hearts, and worship Him with humility. As we yield to God, He fills us with His Spirit and gives a supernatural sign of His presence—speaking in a language we have never learned, as the book of Acts describes. This is not human effort or emotion; it is God Himself confirming His work within us.

The Bible often compares the Holy Spirit to a dove, a reminder that God’s presence rests on those who approach Him with surrender and purity of heart.

Repentance and Surrender Bring Transformation

Repentance and surrender challenge us because our human nature resists God’s Spirit, just as Romans 8:7 teaches. Yet when we yield, God leads us into true freedom. He does not fill us with His Spirit for ritual, tradition, or outward display—He fills us to transform us from the inside out.

Through His Spirit, God changes us from sinners into sons and daughters of the living God, empowering us to walk in holiness, love, and spiritual purpose.

What It Truly Means to Be Born Again

If you have ever wondered what it means to be born again, look to Jesus Christ. Receive Him. Allow His Holy Spirit to fill your heart, renew your spirit, and take control of your tongue—speaking through you in a language you have never learned. This is the unmistakable sign of spiritual rebirth and the beginning of a Spirit-filled life.

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you experience the life-changing power, peace, and joy that cannot be fully explained with words—only revealed through a transformed life.
