Reflecting the Light of Christ: God Sees Us as His Masterpiece

One night, under a low-hanging full moon and shortly after a powerful encounter with God, I found myself asking a question many believers wrestle with: How can God call humanity His masterpiece?
The beauty of the night sky made this question feel even more overwhelming.

Struggling to See Yourself the Way God Sees You

As I stared at the moon, I wondered how the God of the universe could look at someone like me—broken, flawed, and imperfect—and see anything close to a masterpiece.
Like many Christians, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness.

But in that quiet moment, God spoke to my spirit with a simple phrase that changed my perspective:

“Be like that—a full moon.”

The Revelation of the Full Moon: Reflecting, Not Producing Light

At first, I didn’t understand what God meant. Then the truth clicked.

The moon produces no light of its own.
It shines only because it reflects the light of the sun.

And a moon becomes “full” only when the world is completely out of the way, allowing the sun’s light to shine on it without obstruction.

This revelation offered a powerful spiritual truth:

We are not called to shine by our own strength.
We are called to reflect the light of the Son of God—Jesus Christ.

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect to Reflect God’s Light

God never asked us to generate our own brilliance. He never required us to be flawless or self-sufficient. Instead, He asks us to position ourselves so that:

  • The world’s distractions are out of the way

  • His presence can shine on us

  • His light can reflect through us to others

This is how God can call us His masterpiece—not because we are perfect, but because His perfect light is reflected through our lives.

Shine by Reflection, Not Performance

This moment under the full moon taught me a life-changing truth:
I don’t need to shine on my own.
I simply need to reflect the love, grace, and light of Jesus Christ to a world that desperately needs hope.

That is what makes us God’s masterpiece—not our perfection, but His presence.
