Humans Are Spiritual Beings

You Are a Spiritual Being

What does it mean to be a spiritual being? First, let’s look at the definition of a spiritual being: In Websters’ context, a “spiritual being” refers to an entity that is not material or corporeal, possessing a soul or spirit, and often associated with the divine, intellect, or higher-level affections of the soul. Such a being is distinguished from purely physical substances, existing in a realm or state that is separate from the body.

Some of the key aspects of this concept includes the following:

  • Dual Nature:
The core idea is that humans are not solely physical but also possess a non-material aspect—a soul or spirit—that is distinct from their body and mind.
  • Transcendence:
This spiritual dimension allows humans to seek meaning, connection, and purpose beyond their immediate physical existence.
  • Divine Connection:
Many spiritual traditions believe this spiritual essence connects humans to a greater divine reality or something transcendent.
  • Identity:
Proponents of this view suggest that true identity lies in this inner spark, which is more enduring than the physical body, personality, or life experiences.

Spiritual Beings Having a Human Experience”

  • Origin:
This popular phrase is often attributed to the 20th-century
French philosopher and priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
  • Meaning:
It suggests that our true, eternal self is spirit, and the human life is a temporary journey or experience that this spirit is going through. This contrasts with the idea of being human beings who have occasional spiritual experiences.

It is my belief that only spiritual beings can communicate to each other through language, as well as only spiritual beings can imagine and create. We humans can improve ourselves, unlike animals which are what they are, and on their own cannot become more. In other words, a dog will always be a dog, or a horse is a horse, of course.

Humans can start in one circumstance but through effort, learning and work become much more.

I have personally noticed that humans who complain about things but do not put the time in to improve themselves stay in one place or situation.

Please note that I am not saying that it is easy to improve ourselves, but by choosing not to spend all our free time in entertainment, and instead spending time learning new things, we can improve our own situations.

I believe that we are made in the image of the Creator of this universe and because of this, we each should treat each other the way that we want to be treated and continually improve ourselves to become the best version of ourselves. After all, no one else has our fingerprint, nor thinks about things the exact same way as we do, so becoming the best version of ourselves can be valuable to others who can benefit from our gifts. All business is based on bringing value and exchanging it for either something else of value or money.
